-Don’t say “Gypsy”. Or “Gypped”. No matter how it’s spelled.
-Correct others who use the words.
-Punch Holocaust deniers in the throat.
-Avoid supporting businesses or musicians that use offensive terminology. Or at the very least, be aware of how damaging they are.
-Don’t accept “historical accuracy” or “art” as excuses for people to be anti-Rromani.
-Don’t perpetuate stereotypes.

Useful alternative words.
If you’re trying for an aesthetic: alternative, hippy, or pagan.
If you mean the horses: cob, irish cob, coloured cob. Probably not vanner? It’s almost always used with the slur.
If you mean cheated: duped, swindled and hustled all have a similar tone, and there are countless other synonyms.
Oh can I help? I love words
Aesthetic: new age, mystical, fantasy, shabby chic, fairy, artsy-fartsy. Do NOT use Boho/Bohemian, bc Bohemia is a place that still exists.
Synonyms for cheated: conned, swindled (seconding this one bc it is a great word), bilked, hoodwinked, bamboozled
If you aren’t sure if a word is a slur, look it up here. Etymonline is an archive of the history of a lot of words in the English language, and has helped me a lot with determining which words are slurs and which aren’t.
Also useful to replace phrases that contain the slur:
If you mean a group of people who go from place to place with no set home: nomads, travelers, wanderers, migrants, vagabonds (careful, though: depending on context this can have criminal connotations)
If you mean how a group of people in separate vehicles travel together: caravan, convoy, wagon train, procession
If you mean an intricately carved/decorated horse drawn vehicle that belongs to the culture of the Rromani people: Vardo
If you mean another kind of horse drawn vehicle: look at all these options to choose from
